The F.D. Lyons Rod Company

For many years we have offered quality repair and restoration of fine classic split bamboo fly rods. At this time we have decided to discontinue this service and concentrate on new split bamboo and fiberglass fly rods. These rods will be offered on our website and at select locations. We will also be offering new, used and restored bamboo and fiberglass fly rods, fly reels, rod components, and various items related to fly fishing. All phases of the building of the bamboo rods are done in our shop. These rods are not made from someone else's blanks. I do all the work myself, from the basic elements to the finished product. We do not offer auctions or uncertain pricing. All costs are clearly communicated and guaranteed in advance of any committment. ~ ~ ~

All items on this list come with a three(3) day inspection period.
If, for any reason , you are not satisfied, please let me know as soon as possible so I can make the item available to the next person. Return the item in the condition it was received for a full refund (minus shipping charges). All payments should be in U.S. funds, postal money orders are preferred method of payment. Personal checks are acceptable, but they must clear before item is shipped. All check and money orders should be payable to Francis D. Lyons.

Shipping charges will be determined at time of order (to cover actual costs only). Items will be shipped through U.S. Postal Service, UPS or FedEx unless otherwise requested. All special shipping requests, custom fees, tariffs.. etc. are the responsibility of the buyer. 

I  make every effort to identify any defects and pass that information on to the buyer. If a shortcoming does get past me or I misrepresent an item, it is unintentional and I will do whatever it takes to make it right.

Scarlet red wraps over dark cane. Made by Heddon for Weber of Stevens Point Wisconsin. Ferrule size is 2. All nickel silver down locking "Hold Tite" reel seat. Nickel silver winding check and loose ring hook keeper. Nickel silver ferrules have rolled welt and males are swaged One English style dark bridged guide for stripper on butt section. Mid has four high helix dark tungsten steel snake guides and tip sections have four of these guides as well. 7 1/4" long over sized western style cork grip. All wraps and guides are replacements to match original. Varnish is as found with a few bag marks and rough areas.

Original nickel silver ferrules on original tips. The wraps, guides and tip tops are all original as well as the varnish. It has been given an overcoat. The butt section is a replacement provided by Jim Clarkson of Raptor rods. The butt section was finished out by Dwight Lyons. Ferrule on butt section made by Dwight Lyons is a duplicate of an original. Bag is original tube is replacement.

Comparable to Heddon #14 first era. Made by Heddon. 2 1/2 ferrule. Antique gold wraps over dark cane with scarlet borders. Nickel silver slide band seat with cherry filler. One dark Perfection snake for stripper on butt section. Two Perfection snake guides on mid section and three dark Perfection snake guides on tip sections. Comes in original three partition bag with label, three ties and would spacer for tips. Finish shows bag marks throughout. Grip is of lesser cork rings and soiled. Nickel silver ferrules with no skirt. Very sound and fishable.

9' LAMIGLAS FLY ROD

2/1 4 1/4oz MED/FAST #6 LINE

Dark olive wraps on a typical charcoal colored blank. Ceramic stripper guides on butt section, chrome snake guides and ceramic tip top on tip section. The ferrule is on the butt section and fits over the bottom of the tip section. I guess one could call it but over tip. Black anodized aluminum screwlocking downlock reel seat. Cork grip is shaped like a Winston(half wells) and has been wrapped with white adhesive tape. Must have been wounded. Nice touch. No case, no bag and a no nonsense rod. Throw it in the rod rack in the pick up and it is ready for those emergency stops along the river. Fished hard and needs to be fished hard some more. Give it a new home.

Spool is held in place with a metal screw and flat washer.  Convertable from right to left hand.  About 85% of finish remains.  A good match to an H & I fiberglass fly rod.
