As sole owner and artisan at the F.D. Lyons Rod Company, I have dedicated my talent and skills to the repair and restoration of fine classic split bamboo fly rods for the past 34 years. The last 13 years have been a full time endeavor. I have been assisted by my wife, son and daughter. My wife, Peggy, makes fine replica rod bags. She also teaches kindergarten. My son, Erik, helps with the computer operations and my daughter, Tina, handles the taxes. Without their help I would not be able to stay in the business.

I have decide not to offer made to order split bamboo or fiberglass rods in the future. The repair and restoration has been my bread and butter and it is just too difficult to find the time to build new split bamboo rods. I will continue to build new rods on a limited basis and offer them in my other collectible section.

REPAIR AND RESTORATION

I am confident there is no repair or restoration that is beyond my capabilities. Thirty four years of repairing and restoring these fine classics has provided a wealth of experience and the customer can feel confident there rod is receiving the finest treatment possible . All phases, from replacement of a single wrap to the building of a new section, are handled with a strict adherence to originality and detail.
